Creating a Wedding Scrapbook
Most people have a traditional wedding photo album. This is a great way to display the photos that are taken at the wedding. But you may also want to remember the time leading up to your wedding – all the preparation and planning – and that’s where a wedding scrapbook comes in handy.
Scrapbooking is, at its heart, a very personal and artistic endeavor. There is not a specific right or wrong way to make a scrapbook. But the following items are some simple wedding scrapbook ideas to get you started:
A perfect way to start is to include photos of the bride and groom when they were growing up. You may want to include photos from school or other important life events.
Include some snapshots of the couple when they were dating, as well as any professional engagement pictures or perhaps even photos of the engagement ring.
There are a lot of fun outings that go into planning a wedding such as trying on dresses, picking out tuxedos, and choosing a venue. Be sure to snap some photos of these events when possible so that you can include them in your wedding scrapbook layouts.
Be sure to take some pictures of the venue before, during, and after you decorate. You’ll want to remember all the hard work that went into making it look perfect for your special day.
Besides photos, you might want to include copies of all the paper products you bought or created for your wedding day. Some of these might be an invitation, an R.S.V.P. card, a place card, a save the date, and a table number. If you use game cards at your wedding such as wedding advice cards, you can create a whole scrapbook of memories using just the cards. A wedding scrapbook is also the perfect place to include snap shots from your wedding photo booth.
If your wedding favors are small and flat, such as a candy bar wrapper, you might want to include one of those as a memento. If you use a wedding planner, caterer, photographer or a DJ, include their business cards or brochures.
While you are planning your wedding, you might want to keep a journal. As time goes by, you may not remember all the fun little details that went into the making of your wedding day. You can also use your journaling pages to write out the guest list, plan the menu, and figure out seating arrangements. Then all of these things can easily be added to your scrapbooking layouts when you’re putting it all together.
When the big day arrives, make sure that you get all of the photos that you will want to include in your scrapbook. It is fun to include both professional photos and candid shots taken by you or your friends and family so that you can see your wedding from many different perspectives. Decide on a personal hashtag to use online when friends post photos to facebook, twitter or instagram. If you follow these tips, you will have a wonderful keepsake that you can enjoy for years to come.
